Cruise Highlights

Departing from Copenhagen, Denmark and cruising to New York, New York, enjoy amazing food and superb service that has become a standard with Holland America. Visit the finest ports of the Atlantic on this incredible cruise.

Card Player Cruises invites you to visit these exotic ports with us!

Copenhagen, Denmark: Begin this exciting voyage with us from the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. The largest city in Denmark with over 1,200,000 inhabitants, Copenhagen is home to the national parliament, government, and monarchy, which are all situated in the heart of the city. Copenhagen Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in Europe and a must visit if you have time before you depart.

Bergen, Norway: Bergen is the second largest city in Norway also known as the gateway to the fjords of Norway. Ever since the intrepid King Olav Kyrre sailed into the harbour and founded the city in 1070, Bergen has attracted people from all over the world. A very popular tourist attraction is the fish market on the harbor. Don’t miss the ride up to Mount Floyen, where you will be rewarded with a marvelous view over the city and the legendary seven mountains. Also visit the aquarium, or just stroll around in Bergen - it will reveal areas with very differing architecture.

Akureyri, Iceland: Akureyri, Iceland is filled with natural beauty where waterfalls, mountains, volcanic areas, and canyons line the region. The area is also known for its natural Botanical Garden boasting over 7,000 plants! The Old Town area offers a great opportunity to learn the history of Akureyri where the old church, school, and theatres still stand today. Make sure you sample some leafbread, the traditional Icelandic Christmas bread.

Isafjordur, Iceland: Isafjordur is the largest town in the Westfjords peninsula and is an ancient church site and trading post since at least the 16th century. A great stop is the Isafjordur Maritime Museum. Spread across three floors in a house that dates back to 1780, this engaging museum focuses on the maritime history of the town and region. The museum restaurant serves fish dishes and refreshments.

Reykjavik, Iceland: Reykjavik is the world’s most northern capital. With this position comes cold and dark winters, but splendid summers filled with nearly 24 hours of daylight. Every weekend is a party in Reykjavik, as the bars and clubs are popular among locals and cruisers. Be sure to head out to one of the city’s many geothermal pools, a very popular gathering place for the city’s locals. Take in a view of the entire city by climbing to the top of Hallgrimskirkja's church tower or get a sense for the unique perspective Icelanders have by attending a show at the National Theater of Iceland. Discover the history of the city by visiting old houses and buildings that now reside at the Reykjavik City Museum.

Qaqortoq, Greenland: This largest city in South Greenland gives you art, culture, Norse history, boat tours, hot springs, kayaking and hiking trips. The fjords around the city are popular kayaking destinations.

Nanortalik, Greenland: Nanortalik stands on an island. From sea to mountain top, Nanortalik is surrounded by powerful nature. With true Greenlandic character, Nanortalik locals are charming and friendly. Greenlanders are keen to lend a helping hand or extend an invitation to a choir performance. Choir singing is identifiably synonymous with Nanortalik, and thanks to a handful of groups in town, you have ample opportunity to experience this exclusive Nanortalik tradition. The Nanortalik Museum pays homage to the colonial era and Old Norse culture, answering most questions about the town and its beginnings as a commercial spot.

St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada: Encamped on the steep slopes of a harbor, with jelly-bean-colored row houses popping up from hilly streets, St John's is often described as looking like a mini San Francisco. Like its American counterpart, it's home to artists, musicians, inflated real estate prices and young, iPhone-using denizens. At some point, locals will be sure to let you know St John's is North America's oldest city. Highlights include sightseeing from Signal Hill and listening to live music and hoisting a pint (or shot of rum) in George St's pubs.

Halifax, Nova Scotia: This fun and friendly city is home to several colleges and attractions. In Halifax, a slower pace of life is appreciated, and the bars and cafes are always a great place to unwind with the locals. Take a stroll through 17 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens at the Halifax Public Gardens where you’ll find statues, fountains, and a quaint gazebo. Visit The Halifax Citadel where you can see re-enactors in period dress. You’ll enjoy learning about Halifax’s maritime history. Take the Alexander Keith Brewery Tour. This is a brewery that began operations in 1863. The tour is led by a guide in period garb - and you’ll get to sample some delightful brews.
