Basseterre, St Kitts & Nevis

St. Kitts is known for its multi-hued beaches as well as its rain forested mountains. Basseterre, the capital of St. Kitts, is a combination of historic buildings mixed in with some modern architecture. You can tour the entire island by following a road that goes around its perimeter. A narrow-gauge St. Kitts Scenic Railway offers a 3.5 hour, 30-mile circle tour of the island on its double-decker, open-air coaches. The fairly new cruise ship terminal has lots of shops and restaurants where one can stroll for a few hours. Several beautiful beach clubs have been built for those who want to kick back and enjoy a lazy day.

There are some "must-see" spots on St. Maarten...the clothing optional, beautiful Orient Beach, the Princess Juliana airport where you can watch airplanes coming in to land fly closely over the heads of tourists, and the flea market and delicious bakeries in the French side's capital city of Marigot. St. Maarten is a beach lover's paradise offering at least 20 white, sandy beaches around the island.
